RC Strasbourg recognised Martial Godo’s growing influence by naming the Ivory Coast Under-23 international as the club’s Player of the Month for December, a decision that reflected his decisive impact across domestic and European competitions.
Godo joined the Alsatian side during the last summer transfer window and began the campaign while adapting to Liam Rosenior’s tactical demands.
Despite limited guarantees of a starting role, the 22-year-old winger continued to deliver convincing performances that drew praise from supporters and club officials alike.
Across 17 appearances in all competitions, Godo contributed eight decisive actions, underlining his efficiency in the final third.
He scored five goals and added three assists while offering pace and directness on the left flank. In Ligue 1, he recorded two goals and one assist, figures that confirmed steady progress in a competitive league.
His strongest statement, however, came on the European stage, where he produced three goals and two assists in the Europa League.
December marked a turning point in Strasbourg’s continental journey, and Godo played a central role.
He struck the decisive goal in a narrow 1-0 victory against Aberdeen FC, a result that kept the club’s European hopes alive.
He then contributed again during the 3-1 success over Breidablik Kópavogur, using his movement and attacking awareness to stretch opposing defences and influence the tempo of the game.
The club’s supporters responded to those performances with overwhelming approval, and Strasbourg officials acknowledged his contribution by awarding him the December accolade.
That recognition highlighted both his individual progress and the club’s broader belief in his potential.
Strasbourg secured Godo’s services from Fulham for a fee close to €7 million, a move that signalled long-term ambition.
The December award reinforced the club’s confidence in that investment and strengthened Godo’s standing within the squad.
Rosenior now holds greater incentive to increase the winger’s responsibilities as Strasbourg pursue consistency in Ligue 1 and balance domestic commitments with European ambitions.
Godo remains under contract with the club until June 2030 and earns an annual salary of €910,000.
With confidence growing and expectations rising, he now enters the second half of the season determined to build on momentum and secure a more prominent role in Strasbourg’s plans.
