Pitso Mosimane and Mamelodi Sundowns appear poised to put their long-running differences behind them, with both parties understood to be open to repairing a fractured relationship.
Mosimane remains the most decorated coach in Sundowns’ history, having overseen the most successful period at the Chloorkop-based club.
His departure in 2020 to Egyptian giants Al Ahly, however, was followed by a highly publicised financial dispute that strained ties between the two sides.
The matter, involving Mosimane’s agent and wife, Moira Tlhagale, ended up in court and unfolded in the public domain.
The court subsequently ruled that the defendants were liable to pay $478,656.21 in agent commission fees, plus interest of seven percent per annum from May 10, 2021 until full settlement.
Now, in a notable development emerging from Tshwane, there are strong indications that Mosimane and Masandawana are willing to move on from that episode and rebuild their relationship.
Sources suggest discussions aimed at reconciliation are underway, potentially clearing the path for future collaboration.
A thaw in relations could even reopen the door to a possible return to Sundowns for Mosimane should circumstances align.
While Miguel Cardoso remains in charge of the reigning champions, his tenure has come under scrutiny despite the team sitting second on the Betway Premiership table.
Cardoso is still firmly at the helm, but any change on the bench in the future could see Sundowns consider Mosimane, provided both sides formally make peace.
The 61-year-old coach, who was linked with Kaizer Chiefs last year before opting for a stint in the Middle East, is currently unattached and understood to be eager for a return to the dugout.
Attempts to reach Mosimane’s agent, Moira Mosimane, over the weekend for comment on the possibility of a New Year return to the Premier Soccer League were unsuccessful.
