Al Ahly’s football committee has agreed in principle to Barcelona’s offer to sign young striker Hamza Abdelkarim, who was recently promoted from the youth ranks to the first team.
The decision came after a meeting attended by club president Mahmoud El Khatib, where the Spanish club’s proposal was discussed in detail.
The offer is built around a six‑month loan starting this month, with an option for Barcelona to buy the player permanently. If the Catalan club activates the purchase option, Al Ahly would receive 2 million euros, in addition to a 15% sell‑on clause from any future transfer.
A source at Al Ahly told Kooora about an unusual clause the club insists on adding to the contract. The source said: “The football management will also include a clause stipulating that Hamza Abdel Karim will be promoted to Barcelona’s first team or sold to any other club within the first three years of the contract, to ensure a financial return.”
The same source explained that Al Ahly will not impose conditions on the player’s possible return to Egypt, as he comes from a “purely Al Ahly supporting family”. Legal teams are now working on drafting and reviewing the contracts before the deal is officially completed.
