Christian Kofane delivered a standout performance as Cameroon battled from behind to defeat Mozambique 2-1 at Le Grand Stade Agadir in their AFCON 2025 group clash, earning him Man of the Match honours.
Mozambique struck first when Geny Catamo curled a left-footed effort into the bottom corner from outside the box to make it 1-0. Cameroon hit back before the break as pressure in the area forced Nené into an own goal, sending the sides into half-time level at 1-1.
After the restart, Cameroon raised the tempo, with Kofane constantly attacking spaces in and around the box. His persistence paid off in the 55th minute, when he drove a precise right-footed shot from outside the area into the bottom right corner for the winner.
Kofane had threatened from the opening minutes, testing goalkeeper Ivan Urrubal several times with headers and shots from close range. He also combined well with Bryan Mbeumo and later Christian Bassogog, linking play and creating chances for teammates inside the box.
Even after giving Cameroon the lead, Kofane stayed dangerous, setting up Karl Etta Eyong for a late opportunity that went just wide. His movement, work rate and decisive goal made him the clear choice for Man of the Match as Cameroon held firm through four minutes of added time to secure the win.
