Cameroon booked their place in the Round of 16 at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations on Wednesday night after rallying from behind to defeat Mozambique 2-1 in their final Group F encounter.
Mozambique stunned the Indomitable Lions midway through the first half when Geny Catamo opened the scoring in the 23rd minute, latching onto a well-weighted pass before unleashing a precise strike from the edge of the box that beat the goalkeeper at the left post.
Cameroon responded six minutes later in fortunate circumstances as Mozambique’s Nene, under pressure, inadvertently turned the ball into his own net, restoring parity and swinging the momentum back in favour of the five-time champions.
The comeback was completed shortly after the break when Christian Kofane delivered the decisive moment.
