Following the triumphant performance of the Moroccan national team in their Group F opener against Tanzania, Coach Walid Regragui shared his insights in an interview with Arriyadia channel. The coach acknowledged the difficulty of the match, emphasizing the impact of humidity on the players.
“No, it wasn’t easy. Humidity doesn’t make things easy. We were apprehensive about this first match, given the results of the other teams since the start of the competition.
The players knew what they wanted. We learned to manage the strong and weak moments of the meeting.
This competition will not be easy, but we have confidence,” expressed Coach Walid Regragui.
Addressing the strategic changes during the game, Regragui highlighted the depth of the Moroccan squad
. “We have players on the bench who can help us, and it’s up to me to make the right changes. As you saw today, Mohamed Chibi entered, Attiat-Allah could not play. Boufal also couldn’t play because he was ill the morning of the match, Abde came on in his place.
We wanted players who were 100% ready. Adli, after the death of his mother, was not ready. Our goal is to make our people proud,” he explained.
While emphasizing the collective effort, Regragui credited Romain Saïss, Azzedine Ounhai, and Youssef En-Nesyri as the architects of the impressive 3-0 victory against Tanzania.
Looking ahead, the Moroccan team gears up for their second match against the Democratic Republic of Congo on Sunday, January 21, at 3 p.m.
The anticipation is high as they aim to build on their success and continue to make their nation proud on the pitch at the Laurent Pokou Stadium in San Pedro.
