Antoine Semenyo has revealed that lifting the World Cup with Ghana would mean more to him than winning football’s biggest club trophies, describing the achievement as “beyond words”.
The Premier League forward was asked to choose between some of the game’s ultimate prizes, the World Cup, the Champions League and the English Premier League and his answer was immediate.
“The World Cup, without a doubt,” Semenyo said. “Winning the World Cup with Ghana would be something beyond words.”
The 25-year-old, who has become an increasingly important figure for both club and country, says his ambitions stretch far beyond silverware alone. He believes he has the potential to reach the very top of the individual game.
“My ambition is to become the Premier League’s top scorer,” he added, “and I dream of being shortlisted for the Ballon d’Or one day.”
Semenyo’s confidence reflects a player who feels he is moving in the right direction. Known for his power, pace and direct style, he has continued to develop his all-round game and sees no limits on what he can achieve.
“I’m confident in myself and my abilities,” he said. “I believe I can achieve it.”
