Jeremie Frimpong has expressed his satisfaction at returning to action for Liverpool after a lengthy spell on the sidelines, describing his comeback as a welcome moment both personally and collectively.
The full-back made his return during Saturday’s victory over Tottenham, bringing an end to a frustrating two-month absence and rejoining the squad at a crucial point in the season.
The Dutch-Ghanaian defender, who has Ghanaian heritage through his family background, has been working his way back to full fitness following injury and was eased into action as Liverpool managed his minutes carefully.
His return adds depth and energy to the wide areas, with the club navigating a demanding run of fixtures across competitions.
Speaking to the club’s media, Frimpong reflected on the emotions of being back on the pitch and contributing to a positive result.
“It felt really good to be back out there with the boys and to win as well. So, it was a good comeback, I really enjoyed it,” he said.
“Obviously injury in football is really annoying. I think it’s the worst thing in football – that and losing. But it’s part of football. I’m focused, I’m back now so I’m happy to be back.”
Liverpool’s medical staff had taken a cautious approach with Frimpong’s recovery, mindful of the importance of avoiding any setbacks. His appearance against Tottenham was seen as a key step in rebuilding match sharpness, rather than an indication of immediate full involvement.
Looking ahead to the upcoming league meeting with Wolves, Frimpong underlined his readiness to contribute in whatever capacity required.
“I’m just going to be ready for whatever comes. As a footballer you should be ready for any situation so if I can help the team in any way possible that’s what I’m going to do,” he said.
