Nigeria captain Wilfred Ndidi has affirmed his outfit is in high spirit ahead of their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations opening game against Tanzania.
The Super Eagles takes on the Taifa Stars in a highly competitive Group C clash on Tuesday, with both teams seeking for a flying start to the tournament, being held in Morocco.
According to Ndidi, who was recently confirmed as the substantive captain, his outfit are fully prepared for the Tanzania showdown, while downplaying pressure.
“The spirit in the camp is very high; we’re very energised. This game is very important for us because it sets the momentum,” he said.
He emphasized that both players and staff are fully focused on making a strong start to the tournament.
“Everyone is ready—from the players to the staff. Everyone is focused on this game, and we know how important it is.”
Ndidi also made it clear that the Super Eagles are not feeling any pressure ahead of the tournament, despite high expectations.
“To be honest, there’s no pressure. We have senior players in the team working together with the coach and the manager,” he explained.
“I’ve been in the system long before becoming captain, so there’s really no pressure.”
