Marshall Munetsi is being linked with a move from Wolverhampton Wanderers to Marseille, with the Ligue 1 side reportedly assessing a deal for the Zimbabwe international midfielder.

The 29-year-old, listed with a market value of €12.00m, is currently on the books at Wolves after joining from French club Stade Reims. Data from Transfermarkt flags interest from Marseille, though no fee, contract terms or clear probability of the move have been disclosed, with the likelihood of a transfer marked only as “?”. There is also no public information on the length of his current deal at Molineux, leaving open the possibility that he could move into free-agent territory in the near future if no agreement is in place.

Munetsi, who wears the number 5 shirt at Wolves and operates primarily as a central midfielder, has seen his valuation fluctuate in recent seasons, peaking at €15m during his early months in the Premier League before settling back to €12m in December 2025. That figure is expected to form a reference point for any negotiations between the Premier League side and Marseille.

Born in Harare on 22 June 1996, Munetsi built his career through African and European pathways, turning out for Blue Rangers FC in Zimbabwe before moving to South Africa with Ubuntu Cape Town, Baroka FC and Orlando Pirates. His performances in the South African top flight earned a switch to Reims in 2019, where steady displays in Ligue 1 saw his market value rise from €1m to a peak of €12m before his move to Wolves.

Having already adapted to French football once with Reims, a potential return to Ligue 1 with Marseille would represent a familiar environment and a step back into European competition. If the rumoured move materialises, it could define the next phase of Munetsi’s career and determine whether he is remembered as a solid Premier League performer or as a key figure in Marseille’s midfield rebuild.
