Pitso Mosimane sets clear condition for South Africa national team job
Pitso Mosimane, former head coach of Al Ahly, has confirmed he is ready to take charge of the South Africa national team, but only within a proper long-term project.
The experienced coach has been without a club since leaving Iran’s Esteghlal in January due to poor results, choosing to take a break before his next challenge.
Mosimane believes now is the ideal moment to lead Bafana Bafana, pointing to the quality in the country’s under-20 and under-17 teams. He underlined that he would only accept the job if entrusted with building a strong generation, rather than being treated as a quick fix after a disappointing result.
In remarks carried by South African outlet iDiski Times, he said there is “no better time than now” to coach the national team, stressing that South Africa are in a good position but often forget they have been here before. Mosimane added that he is “available for a good project”, rejecting the idea of being hired in reaction to a single draw and then discarded when problems persist, a cycle he refuses to be part of.
