SC Paderborn are reportedly weighing up a move for SV Waldhof Mannheim striker Kennedy Okpala, with the probability of a deal currently rated at 84% according to transfer data.

The 21-year-old centre-forward, who holds both German and Nigerian nationality, is being linked with a step up from Germany’s 3. Liga to the 2. Bundesliga. Okpala is contracted to Waldhof Mannheim, but publicly available data does not specify the length of his current deal, leaving observers to note that a future free-agent scenario cannot be ruled out as part of the transfer calculations.

Okpala’s market value has climbed steadily in recent seasons and now stands at €600k, a figure that is fuelling talk that Paderborn see him as a relatively low-cost, high-upside option for their attack. There are no official figures regarding any potential transfer fee, and the move remains firmly in the realm of speculation rather than advanced negotiations.

Born on 17 December 2004 in Neustadt an der Weinstraße, the 1.85m right-footed forward has come through the ranks at Waldhof Mannheim, progressing from the club’s U17 side to the U19s before being promoted to the senior team in August 2023. All of his senior football to date has come in Germany, with his club currently competing in the 3. Liga.

Okpala is listed primarily as a centre-forward, and his development has been tracked by incremental increases in his market valuation, rising from €150k in late 2023 to its current €600k assessment in October 2025. That trajectory underpins Paderborn’s reported interest as they look to add youthful attacking depth for the rigours of the 2. Bundesliga.

Should the move materialise, a switch to Paderborn could mark a significant next step in Okpala’s career, offering a bigger stage on which to refine his potential and shape his reputation in German professional football.
