Liverpool legend Graeme Souness backs Mohamed Salah to play on for Liverpool
Liverpool legend Graeme Souness is convinced Mohamed Salah’s story at Liverpool is not over yet, despite the uncertainty around his future and contract talks.
“No, I don’t think we’ve seen Salah play in a Liverpool shirt for the final time,” he told the Liverpool Echo, explaining that the winger will return from the Africa Cup of Nations and that recent discussions between club and player “changed nothing” and solved little, even if both sides have clearly talked things through.
Salah recently came off the bench in a 2–0 win over Brighton, replacing the injured Joe Gomez in the first half, setting up a goal and then sharing an emotional moment with the Anfield crowd at full-time. That reaction was widely read as a gesture of gratitude for their support rather than a farewell, feeding the belief that he still has more to give in a Liverpool shirt.
On the pitch, Salah is still contributing in the 2025/26 Premier League season, with 4 goals and 3 assists in 16 league appearances so far, underlining his continued importance to the team’s attack.
