Nigeria gear up for AFCON 2025 as 24 players report to camp

The Super Eagles of Nigeria are gearing up for the start of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco on Sunday, December 21.

Chidozie Awaziem and Salim Fago Lawal were the latest additions to the Super Eagles camp, reporting at the team’s Renaissance Hotel base on Tuesday morning.

Their arrival brings the total number of players in camp to 24, giving head coach Eric Chelle a near-full squad as final preparations gather pace.

The Super Eagles held their first training session at the Cairo International Stadium on Monday night and returned to the same venue on Tuesday morning for another workout as they fine-tuned their readiness for the continental showpiece.

Nigeria are expected to test their preparedness later tonight when they face hosts Egypt in an international friendly.

The current squad in camp includes goalkeepers Francis Uzoho, Stanley Nwabali and Amas Obasogie, alongside outfield players such as Fisayo Dele-Bashiru, Akinsanmiro Ebenezer, Semi Ajayi, Ademola Lookman, Bright Osayi-Samuel, Igho Ogbu, Tochukwu Nnadi, Zaidu Sanusi, Paul Onuachu, Frank Onyeka, Calvin Bassey, Alex Iwobi, Wilfred Ndidi, Bruno Onyemaechi, Cyril Dessers, Akor Adams, Chidera Ejuke, Raphael Onyedika, Ryan Alebiosu, Salim Fago Lawal and Chidozie Awaziem.
