Crystal Palace interested in signing Moroccan defender Zakaria El Ouahdi
Crystal Palace are reportedly showing interest in Moroccan youngster Zakaria El Ouahdi as they explore options to strengthen their right-back position.
The Eagles had recently been linked with Bayern Munich defender Sacha Boey, but fresh reports suggest the Premier League side may be cooling their pursuit of the Frenchman. Instead, Palace are now considering alternative targets as they reassess their transfer strategy.
According to sources, Crystal Palace have identified KRC Genk’s Zakaria El Ouahdi as a viable alternative to Boey. The Moroccan defender has impressed with his performances in Belgium and is now on Palace’s radar.
Further insight from Bild’s head of football, Christian Falk, indicates that Crystal Palace are reluctant to meet Bayern Munich’s valuation of Boey.
Ten to fifteen million euros would be appropriate, but Crystal Palace are not prepared to pay that sum in the winter. Therefore, the transfer could fall through. Nevertheless, talks are taking place between the clubs,” Falk explained.
With negotiations for Boey proving difficult, El Ouahdi could emerge as a more realistic option for Crystal Palace as they look to reinforce their squad without overspending.
