The 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) will kick off on Sunday, December 21, six days from today.

CAF General Secretary Véron Mosengo-Omba has expressed confidence in Morocco’s readiness to host the rest of the continent, highlighting the country’s investment in top-level infrastructure and detailed preparations ahead of the competition.

He noted that the focus has gone beyond football to include fans from across Africa and the diaspora.

“Morocco has provided world-class infrastructure, not only for African footballers but also for supporters from across the continent and beyond. In terms of preparation, we are ready. For the first time we launched the Diaspora Tour. We brought the TotalEnergies CAF AFCON trophy to African communities abroad to say: ‘Come, you will be welcomed as you should be.’ The diaspora has since become our biggest driver of ticket sales. It was a gesture of respect and belonging. In Morocco, the strategy includes a strong promotional campaign, government mobilisation and new partnerships. We wanted to push further and truly innovate,” he told CAF Online.

Matches at the tournament will be staged across several venues, including the Prince Moulay Abdellah Sports Complex, Moulay Hassan Stadium, Al Barid Stadium, Olympic Stadium, Fès Sports Complex, Grand Stade de Tanger, Marrakech Stadium, and the Mohammed V Complex in Casablanca.

All the stadiums have been designed to meet CAF and FIFA standards, setting the stage for what is expected to be an exciting and well-organised edition of Africa’s flagship football tournament.
