Dutch-Moroccan midfielder Wassim Elasri begins new chapter with Bocholt VV
Wassim Elasri has joined Belgian club Bocholt VV from Sittard U21, giving the Dutch-Moroccan midfielder a new platform in the 2de Nationale VV B.
The 22-year-old defensive midfielder has moved on a free transfer after spending the previous two seasons with Sittard U21. He becomes part of Bocholt’s squad for the 2026-27 campaign, with the switch completed on 25 August 2026.
Elasri made 46 appearances in the U21 Div. 2 Fall and Spring competitions during his time at Sittard, scoring eight goals. His record included five goals in 25 appearances in the Spring competition and three goals from 21 matches in the Fall.
Primarily used in defensive midfield, Elasri is left-footed and stands 1.76m tall. His move to Bocholt represents his first senior-club change away from the Netherlands, having developed through the youth system at Roda JC before joining Sittard.
Elasri began his progression at Roda JC Kerkrade before moving into the club’s under-17 and under-18 teams. He stepped up to Roda JC U21 in 2022, then switched to Sittard U21 in July 2024, also on a free transfer.
His youth record includes appearances in the U19 Cup Netherlands, where he scored once in two matches. He also recorded playing time in the U21 Div. 1 Spring competition during his development.
Bocholt VV compete in the 2de Nationale VV B, providing the midfielder with a move into Belgian football after his spell in Dutch under-21 competition. Elasri’s free transfer to Bocholt VV was completed on 25 August 2026.
