Stade Tunisien reach agreement in principle to appoint veteran Ammar Souayah as new head coach
Stade Tunisien have reached an agreement in principle to appoint veteran tactician Ammar Souayah as their new head coach.
The 68-year-old trainer is taking over the first team of the Tunisian outfit until the end of the 2025/26 football campaign, replacing Lassad Dridi, who left his post on a mutual consent.
Dridi departs the Tunisian outfit after just a month spell at the club. He was appointed to lead Stade Tunisien in November, where he succeeded Shukri Khato.
He is expected to take the supervision of the Algerian club CS Constantine in the coming period, bringing an end to his short spell in Tunisia.
Dridi’s departure from Stade Tunisien is as a result of receiving a financially attractive offer to lead the Algerian club. He met with the president of Stade Tunisien, Mohamed Mahjoub, where he expressed his desire to leave to take over the coaching duties at the Algerian club.

Souayah has been without a club since partying ways with Algerian side ES Setif back in June 2024. The veteran tactician has had spell with several clubs on the continent including JS Kabylie, Esperance, Al Tai, Al Ettifaq and others.
At the international, Souayah has managed the Tunisia national team on several occasions. He led the Carthage Eagles in 2002 before returning as a caretaker in 2011.
