SAFA confirms venue for South Africa’s pre-AFCON friendly against Ghana
South Africa Football Federation (SAFA) has confirmed Donbosnville Stadium in Soweto as the venue for the highly-profiled pre-AFCON friendly match against Ghana.
The clash, which is set for Tuesday, 16 December 2025 will be a key part of Bafana Bafana’s final preparations for the continental showpiece in Morocco.
With the Black Stars missing the AFCON for the time in over 20 years, the Black Galaxies has been called up for the friendly against the Bafana Bafana.
South Africa will compete in Group B at AFCON 2025 alongside Egypt, Angola, and Zimbabwe, kicking off their campaign against Angola on 22 December.
“Bafana Bafana will host Ghana at the Dobsonville Stadium in their final match before departure to the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco later this month,” SAFA said on their website.
“The South African men’s senior national team will welcome the West Africans to Soweto on Tuesday, 16 December 2025, and then depart for Morocco on the following day ahead of their participation in the AFCON tournament to be held in the North African country from 21 December 2025 to 18 January 2026.
“Coach Hugo Broos Broos said Bafana Bafana will not have the element of surprise they had in the previous tournament in Côte d’Ivoire in 2024, and he expects teams to have done their homework on his charges this time around.”
