AFCON 2025: Ngal’ayel Mukau celebrates his first-ever DR Congo selection
Ngal’ayel Mukau welcomed his selection for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations after DR Congo coach Sébastien Desabre named him in the 26-man squad for the tournament.
The announcement came on 1 December 2025 and marked a major milestone for the young LOSC midfielder, who will experience the continental stage for the first time.
Mukau expressed pride and excitement as he reacted to the news through his club’s media team. He emphasised how much the call-up means to him and highlighted the significance of representing DR Congo in a competition of AFCON’s stature.
“For me, it’s an honor to represent my country at the AFCON. This will be my first participation,” he said, showing clear enthusiasm for the challenge ahead.
He also underlined the importance of maintaining concentration on his immediate responsibilities with Lille before linking up with the Leopards.
Mukau insisted on finishing this phase of the club season with full commitment and noted that he still has two matches to navigate before joining the national squad.
“But for now, I’m staying focused on the two matches with LOSC before joining the national team,” he added.
Lille now prepare for a European fixture away to Young Boys Bern in the Europa League on Thursday. After that, the team return to domestic action against Auxerre on Sunday in Ligue 1.
Mukau intends to approach both encounters with complete focus, aiming to arrive at AFCON in strong form and with the confidence of consistent club performances.
His inclusion in the DR Congo squad reflects the progress he has made at LOSC, as well as Desabre’s confidence in his ability to contribute on a major international stage.
The Leopards will hope that his energy and ambition strengthen their campaign as they head into the 2025 AFCON.
