Cameroon’s Minister of Sports, Narcisse Mouelle Kombi, confirms the dismissal of Marc Brys from his role as head coach of the Indomitable Lions, bringing an abrupt end to the Belgian’s tenure.

His departure comes the day after Samuel Eto’o secured re-election as president of FECAFOOT.

Mouelle Kombi addressed the situation during a preparatory meeting ahead of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, a tournament Cameroon expects to take part in. He stated that the federation’s recent announcement makes the decision clear and final.

“As FECAFOOT explained in its press release, we now continue without him as coach of our valiant Indomitable Lions A,” the minister said, putting an end to speculation surrounding Brys’ position.

This declaration closes a turbulent chapter for the national team. Brys assumed the role with the task of rebuilding Cameroon’s competitive identity, but his time in charge ended amid internal tensions and administrative disagreements.

His exit leaves the team in transition just months before the continental tournament.

David Pagou steps into the role and begins leading preparations immediately.

The newly appointed coach holds responsibility for restoring calm within the squad and steering Cameroon toward strong performances at the Africa Cup of Nations.

He inherits a demanding mission, with expectations from both the public and the federation remaining high.

Cameroon now looks ahead to the next phase, with the technical staff reshaped and the countdown to AFCON 2025 underway.

The coming weeks will define how the Indomitable Lions respond to the change and rebuild momentum before the competition.
