Newcastle United target signing Morocco midfielder Eliesse El Khannouss from Leicester City
Morocco international Eliesse El Khannouss is attracting renewed interest from Newcastle United, with the Premier League club reportedly monitoring his progress at Stuttgart.
The 19-year-old has made an impressive start to life in Germany, tallying five goals and four assists in 17 matches during his first season in the Bundesliga.
Any move, however, may be complicated. El Khannouss is on loan from Leicester City, and German outlet BILD reports that his deal includes a game-time trigger that would compel Stuttgart to make the transfer permanent.
While the clause has not yet been activated, it is considered increasingly likely to be met, which would secure him at the club until 2030 and potentially drive up his value for any suitor — including Newcastle.
The Magpies have been admirers of the midfielder for some time, having weighed up a move during the last summer window.
On that occasion, he was also linked with Crystal Palace, Leeds United and Tottenham Hotspur, but no transfer materialised.
