2025 AFCON: Paul Put announces Uganda squad for tournament
Uganda Cranes head coach Paul Put has confirmed his final squad for the 2025 AFCON, blending trusted senior figures with exciting emerging talent from clubs across Africa, Europe and Asia.
The group will carry the nation’s hopes as Uganda returns to the continental stage.
The team departs Entebbe Airport on Sunday 7 December 2025, heading to Casablanca, Morocco for an eleven-day training camp. During this period, the Cranes will play two friendly matches to fine-tune tactics and build cohesion before the tournament kicks off.
Goalkeepers called up are Salim Omar Magoola (Richards Bay, South Africa), Denis Onyango (Mamelodi Sundowns, South Africa), Nafian Alionzi (Defence Forces, Ethiopia) and Charles Lukwago (KCCA, Uganda). The defence includes Toby Sibbick, Elio Caprodossi, Jordan Obita, Rogers Torach, Abdu Azizi Kayondo, Isaac Muleme, Timothy Awany, David Owori and Hilary Mukundane.
In midfield, Kenneth Semakula, Khalid Aucho, Ronald Ssekiganda, Bobosi Byaruhanga and Alhassan Baba will provide balance and creativity. The forward line features Allan Okello, Melvyn Lorenzen, Travis Mutyaba, Denis Omedi, Rogers Mato, Reagan Mpande, Jude Ssemugabi, Uchechukwu Ikpeazu, Steven Mukwala, James Bogere, Ivan Ahimbisibwe and Shafik Nana Kwikiriza.
Uganda is in Group C with Nigeria, Tanzania, and Tunisia. Uganda will play its first game against Tunisia on 23rd December.
