Nabil Djellit criticises Eto’o over Marc Brys’ dismissal and player exclusions

Franco-Algerian journalist Nabil Djellit has sharply criticised Samuel Eto’o, claiming that the dismissal of coach Marc Brys and the omission of certain players from the squad go beyond sporting decisions.

Speaking on Canal+’s Les Grandes Bouches, Djellit said the events reflect a clear internal settling of scores within the club. “For me, it’s pure settling of scores.

That’s my opinion and I stand by it fully,” he stated. He argued that tensions and rivalries behind the scenes are influencing decisions that should strictly relate to football performance.

Djellit highlighted two parallel issues at the club: the sacking of Brys and the deliberate exclusion of players closely associated with him.

“You can fire a coach; that’s a standard decision in football. But you can’t really ‘fire’ players. You can only decide not to select them.

And for me, those who were left out are precisely those who had strong ties with the coach,” he explained.

He acknowledged that some sporting logic exists behind squad selection but insisted that other, non-sporting factors clearly shape these decisions.

According to Djellit, the recent sequence of events underscores a pattern in which internal club dynamics, personal relationships, and rivalries carry as much weight as performance on the pitch.

He warned that such tensions risk destabilising the squad if left unaddressed.

Djellit’s comments have sparked discussion among fans and analysts, raising questions about Eto’o’s role in the club’s management and the broader implications of off-field disputes on team cohesion.
