Bayern Munich are monitoring Lyon winger Malick Fofana, with the Bundesliga champions credited with a 38% chance of securing his signing, according to latest data.

The 20-year-old, listed with a market value of €30.00m, is being linked with a move from Ligue 1 side Lyon to Bayern as the German club assess options for their wide attacking roles. The interest remains at rumour stage, with no agreement between the clubs reported and no contract details disclosed.

Fofana is currently on Lyon’s books and wears the number 11 shirt. Born on 31 March 2005 in Aalst, the right-footed left winger represents both Belgium and Guinea at nationality level, and his versatility across the attack is thought to add to his appeal for potential suitors.

Any deal could be complicated by the absence of publicly available contract expiry information, raising the possibility that Lyon may need to make a decision on his future to avoid risking him moving closer to free-agent status further down the line.

Fofana only joined Lyon from KAA Gent in January 2024, having progressed through Gent’s youth system after an early spell with SC Eendracht Aalst Youth. He moved from KAA Gent Youth to Jong KAA Gent in 2021 before breaking into the first team the following year, establishing himself in the Belgian Pro League before switching to Ligue 1.

His rise in valuation has been steep, climbing from €400,000 at Gent in July 2022 to €6m by October 2023 and hitting €30m with Lyon by June 2025. That trajectory underpins suggestions that Lyon could demand a substantial fee if Bayern decide to formalise their interest.

Should the transfer materialise, a move to Munich would mark the next major step in Fofana’s career, offering a platform to enhance his reputation at the top end of European football.
