Paris Saint-Germain manager Luis Enrique has expressed his delight at seeing Achraf Hakimi return to the training pitch, describing the development as “good news” for both the club and the player.

Speaking ahead of Saturday’s Ligue 1 clash with Rennes, the Spanish coach noted that Hakimi’s presence marked the beginning of “a positive recovery process.”

“It’s good news when a player returns. It’s the beginning of his recovery,” Luis Enrique said during the press conference.

Hakimi, who has been sidelined for a month after suffering a serious ankle sprain in the Champions League match against Bayern Munich, was captured in club footage jogging comfortably on the sidelines during a PSG training session. The Moroccan full-back, recently crowned African Ballon d’Or winner, showed no apparent discomfort as he continued his rehabilitation.

Enrique confirmed that the Atlas Lions captain will rejoin PSG after representing Morocco at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, which begins on December 21.

The hosts will open their campaign against Comoros before facing Mali and Zambia in their subsequent group-stage fixtures on December 26 and 29.

Hakimi’s steady progress offers a timely boost to both PSG and Morocco as they prepare for a crucial period on club and international fronts.
