Egypt star Mohammed Salah’s Liverpool future in limbo
Egyptian international Mohammed Salah is facing an uncertain future at Liverpool following back-to-back benching warming role at the club.
Salah has struggled to replicate last season’s record-breaking performance for the Reds, with manager Arne Slot relegating the pacey winger to the bench in the sides’ last two games in the Premier League.
The attacker signed a new two-year contract with the Reds late last season, keeping him at the club until summer 2027. On the back of his outstanding performance last season, which his goals and assists propelled Slot’s side to Premier League glory, Salah has not hit the same heights this season.
Salah’s perceived lack of defensive work has been singled out for criticism from pundits, with Arne Slot jumping to the defense of the attacker.
The attackers’ successive bench warming role has set alarm bells ringing, with Salah reportedly plotting Liverpool departure.
Meanwhile, the prospect of a deal in the upcoming winter transfer window has been downplayed, but the door could be opened ahead of the summer.
The enterprising winger is expected to join the Egyptian national team for the upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations tournament in Morocco.
