Former Egypt Olympic coach Hany Ramzy believes young Ahly striker Hamza Abdel Karim is ready to make the jump to the first team and to European football.

Ramzy revealed that the teenager has already attracted several offers from abroad, with Barcelona’s interest standing out as the most important.

Ramzy said in a radio interview: “Hamza Abdel Karim is a special player and at the perfect age to turn professional,” stressing that a move to Barcelona would be “a golden opportunity” for him to gain top-level experience. He added that such a transfer could give the player a powerful, different kind of start to his career, and expressed his belief that Ahly would not object because the club could also benefit from his development.

Turning to the recent 1-1 draw between Egypt’s second national team and Kuwait, Ramzy felt the performance was good but the result disappointing, insisting Egypt deserved to win. He pointed to wastefulness in front of goal as one of the biggest current problems in Egyptian football, noting the lack of a decisive, clinical striker.

Ramzy also criticized forward Mohamed Sherif for protesting when he was substituted in that match, especially given that “his level was not good.”

He stressed that such issues must be handled inside the dressing room so they do not damage the relationship between player, coach, and teammates, warning that these reactions ultimately reduce a player’s value.
