Former Nigeria international Yakubu Aiyegbeni is hoping Ademola Lookman will rediscover his form before the commencement of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations tournament to be staged in Morocco.

The 35th edition of the continental showpiece has been scheduled to take place in the North African country between December 2025 and January 2026, with 24 nations set to battle for the covetous trophy.

Lookman has had a sloppy start to the current campaign following a failed transfer in the summer window. The 28-year-old has racked up just two goals in nine appearances in the Serie A for Atalanta.

In all competitions, the former African Footballer of the Year has scored three goals and provided an assist in 13 appearances so far this season.

As Nigeria gears up for the AFCON, the former Everton attacker says he hopes Lookman rediscover form before the tournament.

“I hope he gets back to his best before the AFCON… sometimes football is up and down.” He said.

Nigeria finished as runners-up in the last AFCON, held in Ivory Coast after falling 2–1 to the Elephants in a tightly contested final.

The Super Eagles are paired in Group C against Tanzania, Tunisia and Uganda at the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations.

The three-rime AFCON holders will open their AFCON account against Tanzania on December 23, 2025 in Morocco.
