Senegalese midfielder Idrissa Gueye sees Premier League red-card appeal rejected

Everton will play their next three Premier League matches without Idrissa Gana Gueye after the club failed to overturn the midfielder’s red card from the win over Manchester United.

Everton submitted an appeal against the dismissal, which occurred during Monday’s 1–0 victory at Hill Dickinson Stadium, but the Football Association’s appeals committee refused to rescind the decision.

The ruling confirms a three-match suspension for the Senegalese international.

David Moyes addressed the matter in his Friday press conference and noted that Everton pursued the appeal immediately after the incident.

He expressed disappointment at the outcome and said the club received no detailed justification for the rejection.

“We appealed, but it was rejected. We weren’t given any reason for the rejection, but we appealed immediately,” Moyes said.

The Everton manager also commented on footage shared online showing Gueye and teammate Michael Keane engaging in a light-hearted boxing session to settle tensions following the match.

Moyes clarified that there was no lingering issue between the two players.

“It’s over, we’ve moved on quickly. It was settled in the dressing room,” he added.

Gueye’s absence now creates a significant midfield gap for Everton as they prepare for three crucial fixtures in a tightly contested league campaign.

The Senegalese midfielder has remained a central figure in the squad, and his suspension forces Moyes to reshuffle options as the club seeks stability after a mixed run of results.
