Pyramids secure second place with a confident win over Al Mokawloon
In an energetic contest at Cairo’s Air Defense Stadium, Pyramids FC delivered a composed 2-0 victory over Al Mokawloon Al Arab, marking the end of the Egyptian Premier League’s 14th round.
Burkinabé midfielder Blati Toure set the tone early, scoring a well-placed shot in the ninth minute after a lively attacking build-up. Throughout the first half, Pyramids maintained control in midfield and created promising chances, with their defense capably absorbing pressure from Al Mokawloon’s forwards.
As the game unfolded, Al Mokawloon pushed for an equalizer through direct attempts, but Pyramids handled the waves and responded fiercely. Marwan Hamdy sealed the match for Pyramids in the 82nd minute, coolly converting a penalty after a determined offensive push. Pyramids’ effective squad rotation, orchestrated by Croatian coach Krunoslav Jurcic, allowed the hosts to keep up their intensity until the final whistle.
With this triumph, Pyramids climb to second in the standings, tying Al Ahly in points but ahead on goal difference, and closing the gap with leaders Ceramica Cleopatra. Al Mokawloon, meanwhile, remain in eighteenth place with 10 points.
The league’s format this season means teams will soon split into groups to decide championship and relegation outcomes, promising more drama in the weeks to come.
