Top players of the Super Falcons have criticized the Nigerian Football Federation over lack of friendly matches ahead of the 2026 Women’s African Cup of Nations (WAFCON).

With the 2026 WAFCON set to kick off on March 17, the Super Falcons’ preparation remains uncertain, while several African counterparts have already confirmed their fixtures.

Ghana, for instance, will face England on December 2, while Zambia, Kenya, and South Africa have all arranged friendly matches to fine-tune their squads ahead of the tournament.

However, several top players including captain Rasheedat Ajibade, alongside Ashleigh Plumptre and Rinsola Babajide have expressed disappointment over the national team’s failure to organize friendly matches during the November-December FIFA international break, a crucial period for building momentum ahead of the 2026 WAFCON tournament.

“Zero Friendlies Confirmed Between November 24th to December 2nd.” Wrote the players on social media.

Meanwhile, this is not the first time the 10-time WAFCON champions have faced such challenges. During the last edition hosted in Morocco, the Super Falcons managed to win the WAFCON title despite having only two preparatory matches organized by the NFF, demonstrating their resilience and determination.
