Galatasaray president Dursun Özbek has confirmed Nigeria international Victor Osimhen will be out of action for two weeks due to injury setback.

The former Napoli goal-monger succumbed to injury in the first half, as the Super Eagles fell short to DR Congo in the African World Cup playoff final, held at the Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan Stadium.

Osimhen had to be replaced at halftime, with Sevilla star Akor Adams replacing him in the highly-competitive clash. His absence proved costly as Nigeria eventually lost on penalties, missing out on the World Cup for the second consecutive time.

Providing an injury update, Özbek disclsoed the Nigeria international will be out of action for two weeks, while hoping to have him available for the Turkish top liner against Fenerbahce in December.

“Osimhen will undergo a recovery period of about two weeks,” Özbek confirmed, via Habersarikirmizi. “Our priority is to have him ready for the Fenerbahçe match, and our medical team is working intensely toward that goal.”

Based on the club’s timeline, Osimhen is expected to return in time for the high-profile clash with Fenerbahçe on December 1, 2026.

However, his rehabilitation schedule means he will sit out Galatasaray’s upcoming matches against Gençlerbirliği in the Turkish Super Lig and Union Saint-Gilloise in the UEFA Champions League.

The Nigerian has been in strong form this season, playing a key role in the Istanbul side’s attack. He has already netted nine goals in 12 appearances across all competitions, underlining his importance as they continue their campaign.
