Stuttgart rule out January sale of German-Ghanaian forward Justin Diehl
VfB Stuttgart have ruled out any possibility of parting ways with German-born attacker of Ghanaian descent Justin Diehl in the upcoming January transfer window.
The Bundesliga club remains committed to helping the 20-year-old regain full fitness and confidence after a difficult spell marked by recurring injuries.
Diehl, who has struggled with various setbacks since joining Stuttgart, returned to training on Monday after recovering from a ligament injury. Interest in the youngster surfaced as early as last summer, with clubs such as Bochum making inquiries, and more teams are said to be monitoring him ahead of the winter window.
Despite this, Stuttgart see no benefit in allowing him to leave. The plan is for the forward to settle in familiar surroundings, stay injury-free, and gain valuable minutes with the club’s U21 side in the 3rd division.
Sporting director Fabian Wohlgemuth made the club’s stance clear, emphasising that Diehl will not be moved.
“We currently have no plans to let him go in the winter,” he told Bild.
Wohlgemuth acknowledged the challenges Diehl has faced but reiterated Stuttgart’s belief in his potential.
“Justin hasn’t had an easy time with us so far, due to the setbacks he’s had to endure from various injuries. Nevertheless, he has more than hinted at why we were so keen to sign him back then. He’s technically gifted, possesses tremendous pace, and has the drive to constantly improve.
He added that Diehl’s attitude and determination continue to impress the club.
“Justin is also an absolutely positive guy, and I am very confident that he can stabilise and become a key player.”
