Ademola Lookman: Atalanta cut Nigeria forward’s asking price with Spurs, Atletico and Galatasaray circling
Atalanta have lowered their asking price for Ademola Lookman as interest builds from Tottenham, Atletico Madrid, and Galatasaray ahead of the January transfer window.
The Nigeria international’s struggles this season, coupled with Atalanta’s poor form, have prompted the club to reconsider their summer valuation of €50 million.
Lookman, 27, publicly expressed frustration after several bids were rejected during the summer window.
His form has since dipped, coinciding with the club’s slide down the Serie A table and the dismissal of Ivan Juric.
La Gazzetta dello Sport reports Atalanta hope the appointment of Raffaele Palladino as head coach will help the forward regain confidence and form.
The Premier League’s Tottenham and La Liga’s Atletico Madrid monitored Lookman in the offseason but did not meet Atalanta’s valuation.
Meanwhile, Galatasaray are considered frontrunners, reportedly offering €9 million per year to Lookman’s representatives in anticipation of the winter market.
The Turkish side is eager to secure the forward before competition increases.
Atalanta’s willingness to lower the fee signals their openness to offload Lookman if his performances do not improve under Palladino.
Lookman joined Atalanta from RB Leipzig, bringing pace and creativity to their attack. His technical ability remains widely praised, but inconsistent performances have frustrated both fans and management.
A January transfer could provide him with a fresh start, while enabling Atalanta to reinvest in their squad as they seek to climb back up the Serie A standings.
