Rhulani Mokwena demands attacking reinforcements for MC Alger’s Champions League ambitions
Mouloudia d’Alger (MCA) continues an impressive run with seven consecutive victories and the league’s strongest defense, yet head coach Rhulani Mokwena is not satisfied.
Despite the team’s dominance in domestic matches, Mokwena urgently calls for two new attacking players to help the club reach the next level in the African Champions League.
Behind closed doors, according to Fennecfootball, optimism is balanced with serious questions about MCA’s ability to convert chances into goals, especially after tense performances in the Champions League qualifiers. Against La Colombe of Cameroon, MCA narrowly advanced with a close 1-1 draw in Douala and a goalless return leg in Algiers, underscoring the need for greater attacking firepower.
Mokwena specifically seeks fast, creative wingers capable of breaking through tough African defenses. Although Guinean forward Mohamed Bangoura is set to rejoin the squad in December after a long injury absence, the coach feels more is needed. MCA’s management has agreed to bolster the squad this winter, possibly searching beyond Algeria for the right talent.
The urgency will only increase as MCA faces crucial group matches this month against Al-Hilal and Mamelodi Sundowns, which could determine the club’s winter transfer strategy.
