Zamalek responds to claims about Ahmed Mostafa Zizo and financial penalty

The relationship between Ahmed Mostafa Zizo and his former club, Zamalek, has become strained as both sides exchange complaints.

A well-informed source inside Zamalek denied media reports that the Egyptian FA’s Player Affairs Committee had a meeting to discuss Zizo’s case or had imposed a 40 million pound penalty on the club.

“These rumors have absolutely no basis,” the source stated to Kooora, confirming the next hearing set for November 16 is only for both parties to present their positions.

The source told Kooora that Zamalek intends to reply to all allegations, providing documents to prove that Zizo received every financial entitlement during his three-year contract, even when he missed 25 days of training last season. The club fined him per regulations. Zamalek insists it possesses full documentation to back its stance and urges media outlets to verify news with official sources.

The article also describes Zamalek’s formal letter to the FA, demanding action against Zizo for his alleged “disrespectful” behavior during the Super Cup ceremony after the match, saying such actions should not be tolerated in Egyptian football.

Vice president Hesham Nasr was vocal about protocol, “There are clear international norms for trophy presentations. When broken, action must be taken. If another player had acted this way, would the FA have intervened?” Nasr also recounted his own encounter with Zizo, “I wanted to shake hands with him, but his attitude was strange, I didn’t insist.”

Al Ahly responded with a complaint of its own, pointing to what it called “abusive” chants from Zamalek fans directed at Zizo and his family during the Super Cup, asking the FA to investigate.

Zizo was a key player for Zamalek before moving to Al Ahly as a free agent last summer.
