Middle East side Al-Arabi SC open talks with South African coach Pitso Mosimane over vacant coaching role
Middle East club Al-Arabi SC is reportedly in talks with South African coach Pitso Mosimane to take over as head coach.
The move comes after the club dismissed Portuguese manager Marco Alves following a surprising defeat to Al-Nasr.
Mosimane, 61, is no stranger to the pressures of Middle Eastern football, having previously managed clubs in Egypt and Qatar.
According to a report by Alrai Media, Al-Arabi’s management is keen to bring him in after failing to reappoint former coach Nasser Al-Shatti.
Despite currently sitting third in the Kuwaiti Premier League after seven matches, the shock loss to bottom-placed Al-Nasr reportedly prompted swift action from the club’s hierarchy.
Renowned for his continental success, Mosimane has won CAF Champions League titles with both Mamelodi Sundowns and Al Ahly, earning a reputation as one of Africa’s top coaches.
He has also built a strong profile in Asia, managing Esteghlal FC, Al-Wahda, Al-Ahli, and Abha FC over the years.
Since parting ways with Esteghlal in January, Mosimane and his technical team have been free agents, making him available for a return to the region.
