Sekhukhune United winger Keletso Makgalwa explains contract termination at Mamelodi Sundown

Sekhukhune United winger Keletso Makgalwa says he terminated his contract with Mamelodi Sundowns because he wanted a fresh start.

Makgalwa was promoted to Sundowns first team during the 2017/18 campaign under then-head coach Pitso Mosimane, but failed to command a regular place in the starting eleven.

However, the winger embarked on a series of loan spells to Maritzburg United (now Durban City), Moroka Swallows, TS Galaxy, and All Stars in the second-tier, respectively.

The 28-year-old playmaker attributed his unsuccessful spell at Sundowns to persistent injuries, which kept him on the sidelines for prolonged periods.

His move to Sekhukhune United is paying dividends, following an impressive performance in the ongoing South African Premier League campaign.

Makgalwa has been one of United’s best players which has seen the Limpopo side rise on the PSL standings as they are presently second.

“I terminated my contract with Sundowns because I needed to start afresh,” Makgalwa said.

“I told myself that one day I want to see myself in the Bafana Bafana team, so I need to work hard and make sure that I come back very strong.”

The nippy midfielder is part of Bafana’s current camp ahead of their international friendly against Zambia on Saturday in Gqeberha.

“I’d like to thank the coach for giving me an opportunity to be part of this amazing group,” he added.

The former Moroka Swallows attacking midfielder will be hoping he earns his maiden international cap on Saturday against Zambia as Bafana coach Hugo Broos prepares for next month’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
