Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) champions Remo Stars staged an impressive comeback to claim a 2-1 victory over El Kanemi Warriors in their league encounter at the MKO Abiola Sports Arena on Monday to end a five-game winless run.

Coming into the game on the back of five straight defeats in all competitions, Remo Stars appeared destined for another setback when Jonas Emmanuel opened the scoring for the visitors in the 58th minute.

But the champions showed resilience in the closing stages, with Victor Mbaoma and Michael Ibe finding the net to turn the game around and hand Remo Stars their first league win since their 2-0 triumph over Wikki Tourist on October 6th.

The crucial win lifts Remo Stars out of the relegation zone, easing pressure on both players and management. With 13 points from 10 matches and two games in hand, they now have a strong chance to move further up the standings.

El Kanemi Warriors, meanwhile, remain 14th on the log with 15 points after the disappointing loss, one they will view as a missed opportunity to secure a positive result away from home.

Elsewhere in the NPFL, Rivers United recorded their first away win of the campaign with a 1-0 victory over Kun Khalifat, while Plateau United edged Bendel Insurance by the same scoreline.
