Swedish-Eritrean star Alexander Isak ruled out of Liverpool-Real Madrid clash
Liverpool manager Arne Slot has confirmed the unavailability of Sweden international of Eritrean descent Alexander Isak for Champions League Clash against Real Madrid on Tuesday.
In a highly competitive clash, the Premier League giants will play host to the record Champions League holders at Anfield, with both parties seeking for the maximum points at stake.
Ahead of the match, Arne Slot has disclosed Isak will not be available for the side, while predicting a possible return to the squad for the Manchester City clash on Sunday.
Isak joins Dutch-Ghanaian defender Jeremie Frimpong and Alisson Becker as the major absentees for the crucial game tonight.
“Isak? He might be able to rejoin the squad for Sunday’s game against Manchester City, but for now, he won’t be training with the team. Jeremy Frimpong and Alisson unfortunately won’t be available either tomorrow or on Sunday,” Slot confirmed.
Isak has struggled to find his rhythm since joining Liverpool from Newcastle United in the summer, scoring only one goal.
At the moment, Real Madrid are riding a six-game winning streak, while Liverpool are still struggling to find their rhythm this season. In the Champions League, Real sit 5th with a perfect 9 points from 9, while Liverpool are down in 10th place with 6 points to their name.
