Former Real Madrid star Sami Khedira urges respect from Vinicius junior for Xabi Alonso after outburst
Former Real Madrid and Germany international Sami Khedira has weighed in on the incident involving Vinicius Junior during El Clasico in the tenth round of La Liga.
Despite delivering a top-notch performance, the pacey winger was subbed off in the El Clasico as his side cruised to a 2-1 home victory to end their losing streak against Barcelona.
Vinicius Junior was replaced by his compatriot Rodrigo in the 72nd minute mark, where showed plenty of dissent about the coach’s decision.
Acting surprised and launching a torrent of abuse, Vinicius refused to shake Alonso, and headed straight to the tunnel.
However, the former Real Madrid has criticized the Brazilian-Cameroon attacker’s behaviour, while urging respect for the Spanish tactician.
“You can be angry with the coach—there’s nothing wrong with that. But it’s important to remember you’re part of the team. Rodrygo came on, and you have to respect the coach’s decision. Vinicius’ emotions seemed overly intense, especially his body language. That’s not how you should behave,” Khedira emphasized.
Meanwhile, the 25-year-old winger has issued an apology to Real Madrid for his action, while promising to give his all to the team.
This season, the pacey Brazilian-Cameroon attacker has scored six goals and provided five assists in 19 appearances across competitions this season.
