South African coach Pitso Mosimane is reportedly in contention to take over as head coach of Egyptian giants Zamalek SC, following speculation over the future of current manager Yannick Ferrera.

Mosimane, formerly of Mamelodi Sundowns, has been without a club since January 2025 after mutually parting ways with Iranian side Esteghlal FC due to financial difficulties.

Reports suggest that Zamalek could soon part ways with Ferrera, who has struggled to impress during the early stages of the 2025/26 Egyptian Premier League season.

The Belgian manager, who joined the White Knights in July, has overseen five wins, three draws, and two losses in the club’s first ten league matches, a record reportedly deemed unsatisfactory by club management.

Despite leading Zamalek to the CAF Confederation Cup group stage, Ferrera’s position appears precarious, with recent setbacks, including a league defeat to arch-rivals Al Ahly, adding pressure on his tenure.

Mosimane, long linked with Zamalek even before Ferrera’s appointment, could now emerge as the club’s preferred candidate to succeed the Belgian following the departure of Portuguese coach José Peseiro in May.
