CAF Champions League: Power Dynamos eliminate Vipers SC to secure group stage berth
Power Dynamos have advanced to the group stage of the 2025/26 TotalEnergies CAF Champions League after eliminating Uganda’s Vipers SC with a 3-2 aggregate victory.
The Zambian side secured a 1-1 draw in the return leg played at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola on Friday, having already won the first leg 2-1.
Moses Shumah opened the scoring for Power Dynamos in the 68th minute, before Karim Watambala equalised late in the match. Despite pushing for a decisive goal, Vipers could not find the breakthrough they needed to overturn the deficit.
In another fixture, Sudanese heavyweights Al Hilal SC stormed into the group stage with a dominant 4-1 aggregate win over Kenya Police FC.
Playing at the Martyrs of Benina Stadium in Benghazi, Libya, Al Hilal won the second leg 3-1. Nigerian striker Sunday Adetunji scored twice in the 37th and 64th minutes, either side of an equaliser from Erick Zakayo in the 55th minute.
Ahmed Salem added a stoppage-time goal to complete the emphatic victory.
In the other matches to be played, Tanzanian giants Young Africans SC and Simba SC are set to play their decisive return-leg matches this weekend as they look to overturn first-leg deficits and join Al Hilal and Power Dynamos in the group stage.
