Egyptian League issues penalties following Al Ahly match against Al-Ittihad Alexandria
The Egyptian Professional Clubs League released its disciplinary decisions for matchday 11, with the most significant penalties coming from Al-Ahly’s 2-1 victory over Al-Ittihad Alexandria.
Several players received suspensions ranging from one match to financial fines for accumulating yellow cards or receiving red cards.
The standout penalty involved Al-Ahly fans, who faced sanctions for “collective abuse against a rival club” after chanting mockingly about Zamalek’s alleged financial difficulties and potential bankruptcy. The disciplinary committee fined Al-Ahly 150,000 Egyptian pounds and banned their supporters from attending one match as punishment.
The league emphasized its commitment to upholding sports conduct standards. Additional penalties included suspensions for players across multiple teams due to accumulated yellow cards or ejections, and fines for collective infractions. The league stated it aims not solely to punish but to deter violations and maintain the competition’s integrity.
These decisions reflect the league’s zero-tolerance approach toward unsportsmanlike behavior, ensuring that all stakeholders, players, coaches, administrators, and supporters, adhere to professional standards throughout the championship.
