Moroccan striker Hamza Igamane Scores twice on spectacular Lille debut

Moroccan international Hamza Igamane is currently among the top scorers in the UEFA Europa League, sharing the top spot of the goal king chart with four other players.

Despite Lille playing against 10 men, PAOK ran into a commanding first-half lead with goals from Soualiho Meité, Andrija Živković, and Giannis Konstantelias.

Lille mounted a comeback after the break through Benjamin André and Igamane, who scored twice to pull their side back into contention.

However, Živković netted again to restore PAOK’s advantage. Lille thought they had equalised late on, but André’s effort was chalked off following a VAR review.

Igamane’s performance sees him rise to joint top of the Europa League scoring charts with three goals. He shares the position with Anas Zaroury of Panathinaikos, Igor Jesus of Nottingham Forest, Karim Akturkoglu of Fenerbahçe, and Karol Świderski, also of Panathinaikos.

The result ended Lille’s impressive 14-match unbeaten home run in European group stage matches and marked PAOK’s first-ever win over French opposition in the Europa League.

In other results across the competition, Lyon maintained their perfect start with a 2-0 win over Basel. Corentin Tolisso opened the scoring in the third minute, and Afonso Moreira sealed the victory in stoppage time. Lyon, Midtjylland, and Braga are now the only teams with a flawless record in the group stage.

Elsewhere, AS Roma fell 2-1 at home to Viktoria Plzeň. The Czech side scored twice in the first half through Prince Adu and Cheick Souaré before Paulo Dybala pulled one back from the penalty spot.

Despite Roma registering 20 attempts on goal, Plzeň secured the win with just two shots on target.
