Ramy Sabry retires and takes over as sporting director at Pharco
After an impressive two-decade career across Egypt’s top football clubs, veteran defender Ramy Sabry has officially announced his retirement.
Sabry, who spent years with Olympic Club, ENPPI, and most recently Pharco FC, made his heartfelt farewell public on social media, expressing pride and gratitude for the journey that began in 2005.
Sabry wrote about his passion for the game and treasured memories with various clubs, noting how football has been his life for 20 years. The player leaves behind 295 league appearances and 17 more in the Egypt Cup, highlighted by a 2011 Cup win with ENPPI and stints in continental tournaments.
Transitioning from pitch to office, Sabry will now serve as Pharco’s sporting director, succeeding John Edward, who departed for a similar role at Zamalek. Sabry’s leadership is expected to help Pharco during a challenging season, currently sitting last in the Egyptian league with 6 points and several key players having recently left.
Meanwhile, goalkeeper Mohamed Said Sheka publicly apologized for a costly error in a recent match, committing to help his team bounce back. Despite the club’s struggles, Pharco has worked hard to strengthen the squad, hoping Sabry’s extensive experience will spark a turnaround.
