Moroccan football continues its remarkable rise after earning widespread recognition in the final shortlist for the 2025 CAF Men’s Awards.

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) announced the nominees, and Morocco emerged as one of the most represented nations across multiple categories.

From players and coaches to clubs and national teams, Morocco’s presence highlights a period of exceptional consistency and dominance across African football.

This recognition crowns years of structured development, impressive results, and individual brilliance on both domestic and international stages.

In the major individual categories, Paris Saint-Germain full-back Achraf Hakimi and Al Hilal goalkeeper Yassine Bounou headline Morocco’s impressive list of nominees.

Hakimi’s dynamic performances for club and country earned him a spot in the Best Player category, while Bounou’s leadership and agility placed him among the favourites for Best Goalkeeper.

The Moroccan domestic league also received strong acknowledgment. Renaissance Berkane’s Oussama Lamlaoui earned nominations in both the Best Player and Best African Club Player categories, showcasing the growing quality of talent within Morocco’s top flight.

His performances in continental competitions have solidified his reputation as one of Africa’s most reliable midfielders.

Morocco’s coaching excellence also features prominently. Walid Regragui, head coach of the senior national team, leads the race for Best Coach.

His tactical vision and leadership continue to define Morocco’s football identity. Joining him on the list are Tariq Sektioui, who oversees the local-based national team, and Mohamed Wahbi, coach of the U20 side.

Their collective recognition underlines the country’s success in developing strong managerial depth.

At the team level, both Morocco’s senior and U20 national sides earned nominations.

Their achievements reflect the Federation’s long-term investment in youth development and its commitment to maintaining international standards. The nominations also validate Morocco’s consistency in global tournaments and continental championships.

Club football in Morocco continues to thrive, with Renaissance Berkane leading the way. The CAF Confederation Cup champions received a nomination for Best African Club, following a season of resilience and tactical discipline that impressed analysts and fans across the continent.

Rising stars also contribute to the nation’s growing legacy. Abdallah Ouazzane of Ajax and Othman Maama of Watford feature in the Best Young Player category, representing a new generation of Moroccan talent now flourishing in Europe. Their inclusion underscores Morocco’s expanding influence beyond African borders.

These nominations reflect a golden era for Moroccan football. From grassroots programs to professional clubs, every level of the game shows strength, direction, and ambition.

The recognition from CAF confirms Morocco’s position as a continental benchmark in performance, organization, and player development.

As anticipation builds ahead of the CAF Awards ceremony, Morocco’s impressive representation stands as a symbol of national pride.
