Togo Women’s team arrives in Burkina Faso for crucial WAFCON qualifier
Togo’s women’s national team has completed its final training session in Lomé and will arrive in Ouagadougou today for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Burkina Faso.
The Eperviers Dames trained at the Kégué Stadium on Tuesday, where head coach Kai Tomety oversaw an intense session focused on tactical coordination and finishing.
The group showed sharpness and confidence ahead of Friday’s first-leg clash at the August 4 Stadium.
The squad is nearly at full strength, with captain Nathalie Badaté and midfielder Sama Koudoukalo joining the team on Tuesday and taking part in the final practice.
Their inclusion boosts the side’s morale and stability in midfield. The only player yet to report is Lucie Gantim, who will link up with the team directly in Ouagadougou.
Togo’s preparations have been thorough, with every session designed to fine-tune the players’ understanding of the game plan and strengthen team chemistry.
The players remain focused on securing a positive result away from home before the return leg in Lomé.
During the final training session, the Minister Delegate for Youth and Sports, Dr. Abdoul Fahd Fofana, visited the team to offer words of encouragement.
He praised their commitment and urged them to fight with determination to make the nation proud. His presence lifted the players’ spirits ahead of their crucial journey.
The Women’s AFCON qualifier marks a significant opportunity for Togo to continue its progress in women’s football.
The Eperviers Dames aim to make a strong statement in the first leg, knowing that an away result would give them an advantage heading into the second fixture.
Togo will face a determined Burkina Faso side, but the players’ confidence and unity remain high as they look to bring home a result that strengthens their qualification hopes.
