Moroccan FA President Fouzi Lekjaa welcomes U-17 squad ahead of World Cup
Fouzi Lekjaa, president of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation, welcomed the Moroccan U-17 national team to the Mohammed VI Sports Complex as they prepare for the 2025 FIFA U-17 World Cup in Qatar, running from November 3 to 27.
In his address, Lekjaa highlighted the vital role of psychological strength in achieving great results, reminding the players that the shared factor behind Morocco’s footballing successes, like with the senior team, futsal squad, U-20s, and Olympic and U-17 teams—has been high spirits and positivity.
Lekjaa reflected on their recent continental U-17 triumph in Mohammedia last April and urged the young players to maintain ambition and always strive for higher goals, recommending a team-focused, clear style of play and unyielding effort to honor Moroccan football. He emphasized that the federation will provide every resource needed for the players to win the title.
Head coach Nabil Baha stated that the squad’s main goal is to emulate the U-20 team, who became world champions. The U-17s will hold a preparatory training camp in the UAE from October 21 to 30, featuring friendlies against Venezuela and Switzerland. Morocco will compete in Group B with Japan, New Caledonia, and Portugal in the World Cup’s opening stage
